Some wedding days are filled with grand productions, elaborate timelines, and endless details. Others remind you that at the heart of it all, a wedding is simply about two people choosing each other and celebrating with the people they love most. Cam and Kyle’s wedding day at The James was exactly that!

On a perfect Saturday in May, family and friends gathered in Geneva, Illinois, to celebrate these two as they became husband and wife. With around 80 of their favorite people in attendance, the day felt intimate, relaxed, and meaningful from beginning to end.

Their wedding vision was vintage, classy, and casual, and they brought that vision to life beautifully. Instead, every part of their day reflected who they are and what they wanted the day to feel like… Laid-back, welcoming, and focused on creating an experience their guests would genuinely enjoy.

Before the ceremony, guests enjoyed a custom coffee bar that served as a unique pre-ceremony cocktail hour. It was such a fun and thoughtful touch that perfectly matched the relaxed atmosphere of the day.

Their ceremony took place at Weis Landscaping in Geneva. They exchanged heartfelt vows surrounded by the people who know and love them best. One of the most memorable moments of the entire day came during their personal vows. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight as Kyle shared words that were so sincere and emotional they left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. It was one of those moments that reminds you exactly why personalized vows are so special!

Afterward, everyone made their way to The James in Geneva for the reception. This was my first time photographing a wedding at The James, and I absolutely loved it! The weather could not have been more beautiful, allowing guests to fully enjoy the outdoor patio and cocktail-style reception.

The evening unfolded exactly as Cam and Kyle had hoped. There was live music, great food, meaningful conversations, and plenty of time spent simply enjoying one another’s company. Guests mingled on the patio while downtown Geneva buzzed around them, creating an atmosphere that felt both elegant and just so fun.

One of my favorite moments happened throughout the evening as families and visitors walking nearby would stop to admire the bride. Time and time again, people couldn’t help but smile, offer congratulations, and marvel at how beautiful the day was. There was something so charming about celebrating in the heart of Geneva. The excitement of Cam and Kyle’s wedding naturally became part of the community around it.

What I loved most about Cam and Kyle’s wedding was how intentional they were about keeping the focus on what mattered most. There was no wedding party. No over-the-top details. No pressure to create a perfectly curated production. Instead, they filled their day with the things they value most… Good food, good music, a beautiful setting, and the people they love. The result was a wedding that was so Cam & Kyle!

Cam and Kyle, thank you for allowing me to document such a meaningful day. Your wedding was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most memorable celebrations are the ones that stay true to who you are.
