Grace has had one of those jam-packed summers that just flows right into an even busier fall – the classic senior year story! So when she reached out at the beginning of May, I was so grateful we could lock in a date in late July that worked with her schedule. Booking 2–3 months in advance is always my recommendation for senior photos. It’s the sweet spot that gives us plenty of time to find the perfect date, locations, and pick your outfits.
Her session ended up landing on quite possibly one of the most humid days of the summer. Grace was such a trooper! This year’s humidity has been no joke, but I’m always thankful for clients who power through without complaint. One of the challenges of being a natural light photographer is that we can’t control the weather… Or the state of our locations. Between storms, landscaping changes, surprise park closures, construction, and those oh-so-unreliable weather apps, we’re always ready to pivot. And that’s exactly what happened for Grace – we had to make a last-minute location change and ended up at Morton Arboretum.
While I’ve photographed there before, this was actually my first time shooting senior photos at the Morton Arboretum. Trust me, I left so inspired. The perfectly curated grounds, the summer flowers, the mix of open fields and architecture… It’s truly the perfect backdrop for seniors looking for elevated garden vibes. It now has a top spot on my list of favorite senior locations!
Grace is a Class of 2026 senior at Loyola Academy and has been passionate about field hockey since she was little. She plays on her varsity team and loves the friendships she’s built with her teammates and coaches. She also has the most stunning eyes, truly! Grace is naturally drawn to grassy, natural settings with and florals, so the Arboretum was truly meant to be for her session.
Grace – thank you for braving the humidity and going with the flow when our plans changed. You made this session such a joy, and I can’t wait to see where your senior year takes you!
