We’re ENGAGED!

Personal

February 11, 2022

I can’t believe I am even writing this but here we are! We are marking 1/29/22 as a day in history around here and I can’t wait to share everything leading up to this day!

Let’s begin back in April of 2021, James and I were spending the weekend in Wisconsin (his hometown) when on a whim we decided “let’s go ring shopping” to kill some time. We walked into the jewelry store a little nervous and giddy, as we really had no idea what to expect. Ironic enough, as we stepped into the store and we were waiting for our consultant, one of James’s favorite bands came on in the store and we both began laughing as if this was our sign we were in the right place at the right time. I had no idea what kind of ring I wanted or where to even begin, so thankfully our consultant did an incredible job at Kesslers educating us and letting me try on any and every piece I wanted. James and I ended up building our ring completely which makes it so special to me. Not only was it what I wanted, but what he wanted as well! We left the jewelry store with so much excitement that we told our parents what little adventure we had just gone on and we were all in shock that we had just taken that big step.

Fast forward to the end of May, we got a call from Kesslers that the diamond we had picked was in their store and we could come and see it. At this point, the ring hadn’t been built but I could see the actual diamond before we approved of everything. From here on out I approved of the diamond and the set, the rest was on James! 😉

That leaves us to the date, 1/29/22, yup! He had me wait a whole 8 months before he proposed! Although the anticipation was high, he still surprised me and made the day absolutely perfect.

To include some details of the proposal, I only had one wish and that it was both families be there to celebrate, oh and for Jordan to be there to photograph the whole thing… duh. James did all that & more. He dropped down on one knee on the riverwalk in downtown Naperville where we spent most of our time while dating. It was incredible as both our families were waiting for us afterward in the bar in Hotel Indigo where we had champagne and shared many laughs about the day. Later that night we continued the celebration at Pierce Tavern for an incredible dinner with both of our families. I was so excited to see James do the dang thing and to finally see the ring finished! I wish I could tell you more about what he said to me at this moment but all I can remember was him taking me down to the riverwalk and the rest was a blur until I saw Jordan with her camera!

It was an unforgettable weekend and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the whole process! We can’t wait to begin wedding planning and to continue celebrating this special time in our lives!
